
Activision has announced a rather surprising decision in an article published on the Call of Duty website. The American publisher has announced a new strategy for future games in the franchise.
The studios responsible for Call of Duty games will no longer release two titles from the same series in a row. This means we will no longer see two Black Ops or two Modern Warfare games released in consecutive years.
“We will no longer do back-to-back releases of Modern Warfare or Black Ops games. The reasons are many, but the main one is to ensure we provide an absolutely unique experience each and every year.
We will drive innovation that is meaningful, not incremental. While we arenβt sharing those plans today, we look forward to doing so when the time is right.”
In addition, Activision says it has already “built the next era of Call of Duty” and that it “will meet your expectations precisely.”
