Bungie insists on its zero-tolerance policy against Marathon cheaters

Just before the launch of Marathon, Bungie had already stated its intention to wage a relentless war against cheaters. This commitment was reiterated this week in a message posted by the development team on social media.

As such, the American studio says it is enforcing a “zero-tolerance” policy against cheating in Marathon. Offenders are actively banned using telemetry and detection methods designed to better catch players who break the rules.

What’s more, Bungie doesn’t plan to stop there, as additional measures will be implemented in the near future.

“Some of this work is live already, and more improvements will roll out over the coming weeks. Anti-cheat is a continuous cycle of monitoring, improving, and responding. This is an area that we will continue to invest in to protect the integrity of your runs.”

New reporting tools are also being developed to address instances of in-game harassment. Finally, anti-stream sniping measures will be developed to stop those who track down influencers who stream games live with the intent of disrupting them.
