Bloodborne’s Free Remaster is Updated, Here’s What is New

Bloodborne is one of those games that people seemingly want more of at every turn, and yet for whatever reason, the developer refuses to provide us with additional ways to play the game in 2026.

The original game on the PlayStation 4 remains the only official version available to players; calls continue to abound for either a remaster or a remake, as well as an official PC port for those who haven’t got Sony’s flagship console yet.

That said, it is possible to play the game on the computer via emulators, though the experience is a little bit more buggy and difficult to set up than many would like.

Fortunately, those behind the technology we use to get that working and get it looking good are continuing to update things all the time and the PC remaster mod for Bloodborne is one great example of that.

Bloodborne PC Remaster Mod Gets Major Update

As first reported by DSO gaming, the Bloodborne PC Remaster Mod has just been updated and renamed, with a new version available to download right now.

Now known as Shadows of the Hunt, there’s an entirely new version available for you to use alongside playing the game in your chosen emulator, giving the whole game an entirely new look that really brings it much more in line with the expectations players have in 2026.

Though it technically does a lot of things, the mod is most well known for how it affects the game’s lighting and shadows, adding a ton of realism and dynamic elements, as well as improving shadow distance and stability across the board.

The new version increases the mod’s scope significantly, adding visual improvements to Central Yharnam, Old Yharnam, Hemwick Charnel Lane, and the Hunter’s Dream.

The mod also adds parallax occlusion mapping to many of the game’s textures, as well as higher resolution skyboxes to sweeten the deal.

Given that the game has begun to show its age in several areas, the mod also improves textures and entirely replaces models for the more distant views in Central Yharnam and the Cathedral Ward.

The mod authors recommend the use of the shadPS4 emulator to get the game running on your system, following which you can download the mod and apply it to your game in the usual way via a bespoke mods folder.

All of that is available right now if you want to give it a go, and it’s well worth a trip back if you have forgotten just how enthralling the original game was on the PS4.
