Bloodborne PC Multiplayer Mode Just Became a Reality

Bloodborne on PC just hit a new major milestone, as online functionality has now become a reality.

A few years ago, the mere idea of playing Bloodborne on PC was a simple pipe dream. With Sony seemingly uninterested in breaking the game out of PS4 jail, there was simply no other way to play it.

However, after ShadPS4 started showing promising results of emulating Bloodborne in 2024, fans united in the hope that we’ll one day get a fully functioning PC version of the game working in the future.

As of right now, ShadPS4 does a pretty excellent job of emulating Bloodborne, with the game being fully playable from start to finish if you’re willing to make a few compromises.

One of these compromises has been online play, which has not been possible via ShadPS4 in the past. However, that may all be about to change thanks to a new update from one of the emulator’s lead developers.

As shared by George Moralis, a two-minute video demonstrates ShadPS4 supporting online play in Bloodborne.

Bloodborne On PC’s Online Mode Is A Sign Of Things To Come

Now, before you get too excited, remember that this is an early technical test. Co-op gameplay has not been achieved yet, but the video shows off some of the game’s other online features like reading messages from other players, searching for Chalice Dungeons, and spotting other players’ ghosts.

However, I’d imagine this is simply a sign of where we’re headed. Once ShadPS4 is able to support all the original online features of Bloodborne, mods may be able to further enhance the experience.

For example, for those who prefer using “seamless co-op” mods for games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, it’s almost certain that it will be one of the first community creations made for Bloodborne’s multiplayer.

Then there’s also the fact that new enemies, bosses, and items could be added to the game as well in new mods released further down the line. The possibilities are endless, really.

For now, however, we’ll have to wait and watch the project closely with eager eyes while the ShadPS4 team continues to improve and update the emulator over time.

Of course, do also bear in mind that you’ll need to own a copy of Bloodborne on PS4 in order to be able to play it via ShadPS4, as we do not encourage piracy of games that can currently be bought on modern gaming platforms.
