Recently, Electronic Arts thanked players for making Battlefield 6 the “best-selling shooter game of the year.” Lest you think it’s a shot at Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, it seemingly follows Circana’s official video game sales for the United States in October, where senior director Mat Piscatella confirmed it’s the “best-selling game of 2025 year-to-date.”
“Battlefield 6 is currently the best-selling game of 2025 on both the Xbox and the PC aggregated storefront charts, while ranking 2nd year-to-date on PlayStation (behind only NBA 2K26).” It also recorded the “highest single month US physical and digital full game tracked dollar sales total in three years.” 2022’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 still ranks higher, but the fact that Battlefield 6 is the only title to have come close since then is impressive.
And if selling over seven million copies in just three days wasn’t enough of an indicator, it’s also the highest-selling title in the franchise, besting Battlefield 1. If you haven’t tried it out, a free trial is available from November 25th to December 2nd.
How it stacks up to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which released last week, remains to be seen. While not competing directly with Battlefield 6 certainly helped Activision’s flagship shooter, the response to the overall product (especially the campaign) hasn’t been great. In the UK, its physical sales fell by 61 percent compared to last year’s Black Ops 6, while on Steam, it ranked below ARC Raiders and Anno 117: Pax Romana in first week sales.
