Battlefield 6 Has Broken Records — Now It Must Fix the Issues That Almost Spoiled Its Launch

Battlefield Studios Unveils Battlefield 6: Season 1 Roadmap

The much-anticipated Battlefield 6 has broken sales records as well as player count records. And a lot of this was completely expected. But these achievements have been somewhat overshadowed by the launch issues the game has faced. These issues have been widespread and include server capacity limits, EA app outages, in-game bugs and more. Many are resolved, but some are not, and while the developers have offered compensation and apologies, this isn’t always enough. How did all this nearly have a catastrophic impact on the game?

Behind Battlefield 6

A hugely anticipated game, Battlefield 6 smashed records, getting record sales highs for the franchise in just the first three days. It’s already sold more than 7 million game copies, and the number is only rising. On top of that, there have been more than 170 million matches played online and in excess of 15 million hours watched on streaming services in the first three days after the launch. The game was highly anticipated, coming off the back of the less-than-popular Battlefield 2042, returning to the large-scale, modern combat, single-player format. On top of that, it introduced the new kinaesthetic combat system for better tactical movement.

Developer responses to issues

Just as players expect the best experience when accessing the best online casino for payouts, gamers should also have access to high-quality game experiences. Unfortunately, there were, and still are, various issues associated with Battlefield 6 since its launch. For one, there is the major EA App outage. EA had to apologize for this server outage as it prevented players from accessing the game. As part of the apology, impacted players have been offered a free premium Season Pass and 12 Hardware and 12 career 60-minute boosters as compensation.

Alongside this, there was limited server capacity, which meant that there were huge queues on the game when it launched. All of this was due to the hugely high demand for the game. The team had anticipated and planned for this on launch day, but were still not prepared for the sheer volume of players.

Once the game was up and running, various in-game bugs became apparent. Players have started listing and complaining, many of which the developers said they were already aware of. The team is actively investigating the specific bugs being listed, including the jump momentum bug, which is impacting many players. It’s also modifying and making adjustments to its backend addressing maps that are not consistently filling with the right number of players. These are just some of the issues plaguing the launch of this game and consequently impacting player enjoyment. The faster these can be fixed, the better this game will be.

Solutions for players

As there were so many issues for players getting their hands on Battlefield 6 via the EA App, many players resolved this by simply purchasing the game through Steam instead. This workaround also served to take the pressure off EA slightly. For in-game bugs, players are reporting that joining a friend’s game or even using the community server browser is a way to bypass some of the more specific bugs.

Additionally, a complete restart and reinstallation of the game has removed some major issues, though this is not ideal as it can take up time. It’s still not an issue for the rather concerning launch bug, where the game fails to recognize that it’s already been installed. Crashes were also prevalent for this game, and a solution for this is to reset NVIDIA’s global graphics settings to their default settings.

While these do work for some, not everyone can access the game properly. And, it should not be up to the players to find the fixes. The developers still have their work cut out for them if this game is to run properly and ensure players get the most out of it.
