It seems Electronic Arts and Battlefield Stu dios are ready to get into the popular battle royale mix very soon. A new report suggests Battlefield 6‘s anticipated mode will be hitting digital store shelves by the beginning of next week.
Free Battlefield 6 battle royale game could be releasing as soon as next week
According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, the Battlefield 6 battle royale mode will shadow drop on October 28. This date lines up with the game’s first Season. Henderson believes they are “replicating” what Call of Duty did with Warzone, as Battlefield’s SVP, General Manager, Byron Beede, is “leading the charge.”
Henderson’s report corroborates with an earlier report from ModernWarzone, which also claimed that it would “full on shadowdrop” on October 28 under the name Battlefield: RedSec. Previous reports from Insider Gaming also claimed that Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode will be free-to-play.
EA and Battlefield Studios have yet to comment on the supposed Battlefield 6 battle royale’s shadow drop on October 28. However, they did release the patch notes for Season 1. Here are some of the key improvements mentioned on the official Battlefield X account’s recent post:
- Improved core movement and animations
- Reworked weapon dispersion to better align accuracy and handling over range
- Significant visibility and lighting improvements
- Audio overhaul
- UI/HUD updates
- Map fixes across modes

When Battlefield 6 was released earlier this month, it received favorable reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 83 across 67 critic reviews. In our review, we gave it a 9 out of 10.
