Battlefield 6 Drops a Chill XP Option, Casual Breakthrough Mode Explained

The XP farming customs in Battlefield 6’s Portal have been quashed, but DICE is introducing a playlist for those who want a more relaxing PvP mode. Now available in Multiplayer, Casual Breakthrough reduces the teams to eight players per side. The twist is that each 16 bots, not unlike Attrition from the Titanfall series.

Dogtags and Accolades can’t be earned, and it doesn’t affect your Career stats, but the playlist otherwise offers Career XP, Weapon XP, Battle XP and Challenge progression. The caveat is that “bot” actions offer reduced XP while actions from real players grant the full amount.

The Siege of Cairo and Empire State are the available maps, and depending on feedback from players, DICE could adjust things further. While not the best substitute for speeding through progression, at least it doesn’t skirt the rules.

Battlefield 6 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Its standalone battle royale mode, Battlefield: RedSec, is playable for free. Check out our review here.
