Batman: Arkham Asylum Reborn Is A Thing Of Absolute Beauty

This Batman: Arkham Asylum remaster is an absolute thing of beauty, and I want to play it right now.

Originally released in 2009 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, before receiving an official remaster in 2016, Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham Asylum is considered to be one of the best superhero games of all time, as reflected by its score of 92 on the aggregate website, Metacritic.

Batman: Arkham Asylum exposes players to a dark and atmospheric adventure that takes them into the depths of Arkham Asylum –Gotham City’s high security psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“Use Batman’s legendary gadgetry, strike from the shadows, and confront The Joker and Gotham City’s most notorious super villains.”

That being said, as great a game Batman: Arkham Asylum is to this day, its official 2016 remaster was a bit underwhelming, to put it mildly. There wasn’t really much of a leap with its visuals or performance, which is the bare minimum most would expect from a remaster.

Thankfully, at least, the talented modding community has us covered, often achieving what those in charge fail to deliver, and that is certainly the case with this ‘Arkham Reborn HD Texture Pack on PC.

The mod in question is created by GPUnity and is available to download for free via Nexusmods.

The fan-made remaster does exactly what it says on the tin, and that’s remastering the game’s textures from Batman’s and the Joker’s suits, the world environments and much more.

“Damn! Amazing work, dude! I’ll replay this game for your honour,” said fabiodlx, in the comments section on YouTube.

“I usually hate texture packs because even small details bug me, stuff like the patterns in cracks being way off,” explained TechnoSyndro. “But you did an incredible job capturing all of those little nuances with these redone textures. Fantastic work, more respectful to the original art than the official remaster they did on consoles.”

“One of the best fan-made remasters I’ve ever seen,” declared ryanconway5992.

“Wow, I didn’t know someone was giving Arkham Asylum the ‘RE4HDProject’ treatment. Fantastic work, my guy,” congratulated SketchTheCatalyst.

“Thanks for giving me another reason to play Arkham Asylum again with these mods,” said TheCloudsOffical.

As a comment alluded to above, if this were the standard of the official Batman: Arkham Asylum remaster released in 2016, there would have been a lot more happy fans.

Unfortunately, the only snag with this fantastic remaster is that, like most mods, it’s a PC exclusive. For the rest of us, we can play Batman: Arkham Asylum as intended on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
