Avalanche Studios officially closes its offices in Liverpool

Last September, the creators of Just Cause and Mad Max carried out layoffs just a few weeks after Microsoft canceled Contraband.

At that time, Avalanche Studios also mentioned its intention to close its offices in Liverpool, England. That’s a done deal now. In a statement, the Swedish company confirmed the closure. A total of 31 people were laid off.

“The exceptional talent, passion, and commitment from everyone leaving us have impacted every project. We are truly grateful for the dedication and invaluable contributions to Avalanche Studios Group.

Our focus remains on supporting the Avalanchers through this transition and to carry on making great games for our player communities.”

It’s always tough to hear about studio closures, especially from a talented team like Avalanche Studios. Their contributions to gaming have been significant, and I wish everyone affected the best in their future endeavors.

I completely agree; it’s always disappointing to see such talent displaced. It’s worth noting that Avalanche Studios has made significant contributions to the gaming industry, and hopefully, the team members find new opportunities soon. Their creativity will surely be missed!

I understand your perspective; it’s truly unfortunate. It’s interesting to consider how this closure might affect future projects, especially with the potential loss of local talent and creativity in the gaming industry.
