This Assassin’s Creed II ‘remake’ is so gorgeous that we need it right now. So, Ubisoft, hurry up and make it happen. Please.
The moment Assassin’s Creed was first released in 2007 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Ubisoft knew that it was onto a winner. After all, from 2009 to 2015, a new mainline game was released every year (not including spin-offs).
Granted, some fans may feel that the series has lost its way somewhat in recent years, with Assassin’s Creed leaning more towards being an action RPG, rather than an action-adventure with a focus on stealth, but there’s no denying that the series still garners a loyal fanbase.
Much of that loyalty may have stemmed from 2009 with Assassin’s Creed II, which introduced us to the endlessly charming Ezio Auditore da Firenze, arguably the most popular character in the series, closely followed by Edward Kenway.
An Assassin’s Creed IV Remake Could Be on the Horizon
Speaking of Edward Kenway, rumours have been making the rounds that 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is getting a remake. Many hoped that the rumoured remake would be announced during The Game Awards in December 2025, and while that never came to fruition, its prospect might not be dead in the water.
In relation to 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II, I have no doubts that fans would love to see this Ubisoft classic remade too, and even though an official remake doesn’t look likely at the moment, a YouTube channel has showcased what that game might look like in 2026.
As showcased on Digital Dreams, created using an Unreal Engine 5 tech demo, a stunning walkaround has been uploaded featuring a modern recreation of Venice, Italy, one of the four main locations of Assassin’s Creed II, and to say that it’s a feast for our eyes would be an understatement.
It’s perhaps worth keeping in mind that the demo in question does feature static NPCs, which is likely to help improve the demo’s performance at a high resolution, but if you put that to one side and imagine Ezio parkouring his way through this version of Venice, it’s an exciting prospect nonetheless.
“This is so beautiful,” said mark_delight in the YouTube comments section.
“I thought you modded Assassin’s Creed II. What an amazing view, bro!” praised LolmenTV.
“Assassin’s Creed [original] needs a remake,” declared JTL1776.
Given that there has been no indication that Assassin’s Creed II is getting an official remake, it’s just a pipe dream at this stage. As for the rumoured remake of Assassin’s Creed IV, as always, we’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
