Asha Sharma (Xbox) speaks on her experience as a gamer

There has been much speculation and disagreement surrounding Asha Sharma, the new president of Microsoft Gaming. Very active on X, she has faced criticism for her supposed lack of experience in video games.

Since her appointment, Sharma has seen her Xbox gamertag shared widely. Her profile was scrutinized all weekend by users who wanted to know her gaming preferences. Comments were quickly made about her achievements and how much time she spends gaming.

To clarify the situation, Asha Sharma spoke out in a message posted on X, under a post by IGN journalist Ryan McCaffrey.

“I agree. Pretending would be a very bad idea and wouldn’t work. I also didn’t expect my gamertag to become so popular, and the reality is rather mundane. I created it recently to explore this universe. I played with my family, and it’s a family account shared across all devices (as you can see from the list of games and achievements). I sorted this out over the weekend and now everyone plays with their own username.

I understand your point of view. I don’t claim to be the best player, and even though I do play, that’s not my goal. Above all, I want to make Xbox the best gaming platform, reconnect with our roots, offer exceptional games, and build a stronger future.”

Finally, to counter rumors that she was using AI to respond on X, Sharma made it clear that she writes her own messages on the social network.
