Ark: Survival Ascended's Lost Colony Expansion Gets a Launch Trailer, Available Now

Ark: Survival Ascended’s most ambitious expansion yet, Lost Colony, is now available, bringing a host of new biomes, more than a dozen new creatures, and much more.

Ark: Lost Colony “bridges the gap” between Extinction and Ark 2, with players returning to Arat Prime, the site of humanity’s final stand. Here’s an overview of the story from the launch trailer, which you can also see below.

“You awaken in the Necrocene – a brutal, post-Cataclysmic era where the Earth’s southern pole has been plunged into eternal night. Buried within the deep snow, the metropolis of the Lost Colony clings to existence beneath energy shields, powered by the radioactive warmth of Red Element. Survival here is an act of defiance against nature itself. This unnatural heat source keeps the Colony alive… only by repelling the Reseed Protocol, ensuring the Earth remains broken so that the Lost King may rule his corrupt kingdom. “

One of the more novel additions in Lost Colony is brand-new animated story sequences by MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man), starring Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Karl Urban (The Lord of the Rings).

Of course, there’s also an entire expansion to explore, including new character paths for Wayfarer, Beastmaster, and Utility, with over 70 unique skills to unlock. The main new focus of this expansion is the Lost King’s Dominion, a massive gothic metropolis guarded by a thrall army — where you’ll struggle to survive. Other new biomes include the Tundra, Twilight Forest, Hot Springs, and the Caldera.

But even more interestingly, you can actually gain the trust of the King’s soldiers by either defending them from Revenants or forcing them into submission, then turning them back on their master. Of course, as you’d expect for Ark, you’ll also have a cornucopia of new weapons, buildings to craft, equipment, and more. For more details on Lost Colony, head to the game’s Steam page.

Ark: Lost Colony is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for $29.99.
