Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders is a success, both for the studio and the extraction shooter genre, but official sales numbers have yet to be revealed. There are estimates, though and while others have noted about 2.1 million on Steam alone, Alinea Analytics reports 2.5 million across all platforms in the first week.
The expected gross revenues in that period exceed $100 million, and surprise, surprise, PC players on Steam lead the pack. They make up about 1.7 million (69.2 percent), with PS5 players in second at over 400,000 (about 17.3 percent) and Xbox Series X/S in last with more than 300,000 (13.5 percent).
Perhaps even more incredible about this estimated sell-through is that it’s several days after the launch of Battlefield: RedSec, a free-to-play battle royale shooter with no small amount of hype. Then there’s Battlefield 6, which had an equally bombastic launch on Steam, selling over seven million across all platforms in three days (and reportedly sitting at over 10 million currently).
Naturally, this is only the start. Ten-year games may as well be the Baba-Yaga of the industry, but Embark Studios’ recent roadmap looks reasonable. In the meantime, check out our review for ARC Raiders, what makes it a fantastic solo experience and why it’s so addictive.
