ARC Raiders Players Spot Strange Flying Objects After Shrouded Sky Update

Shortly after Embark Studios released the Shrouded Sky update for ARC Raiders, players have already begun discovering new Easter eggs that might hint at future content and story plans for the extraction shooter. As caught by Reddit user Bewarden, some strange unidentified flying objects could be spotted overhead through the thick clouds of the new Hurricane map condition.

While difficult to actually see, players have already begun pausing on the correct frame in their attempts to analyse the nature of the flying object. One player noted that, while it initially looked like it was two smaller objects, on further inspection, it instead looks like one massive thing. “If it wasn’t for the visible silhouette remaining perfectly grouped throughout every single frame, creating a consistent shape I’d be less convinced here,” said Reddit user Payule.

Interestingly, many players have also pointed out how similar the shape of the flying object is to Batman‘s personal jet, the Batwing. Others have noted that the silhouette also bears a passing resemblance to the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars.

The nature of this Easter egg indicates that it might only pop up when the Hurricane map condition is active. No player has reported any sightings during other map conditions, at least for now.

The Hurricane was announced last week, and brings in major gameplay-impacting changes to the map. Its high winds can have adverse effects on your own movement since running against a headwind will lead to higher stamina drain as well as slower speeds. Your jumping arc will also get thrown off depending on the direction of the wind. There is also plenty of debris, getting kicked up, which will cause your shields to get degraded and malfunction to make you more visible through the winds to potential enemies. A combination of these factors contributes to low overall visibility throughout the map.

Despite all of these drawbacks the Hurricane also has a few aspects that players might find alluring. Aside from the ability to find valuable Raider Caches described as being “relics of the First Wave,” players with a more PvP-oriented mindset might also find interesting encounters thanks to the low visibility and malfunctioning shields.

While the ultimate goal of this mysterious, large flying object remains unknown for now, ARC Raiders‘ developers have spoken about how the studio has big ambitions for the future. Design lead Virgil Watkins had said last month that the studio wants to escalate the PvE challenges offered by the game, but that the studio doesn’t want to do yet another massive six-legged boss fight.

“I think we are pretty happy with what they are now, but I don’t think we can subsist forever on that,” he explained. “I think eventually, if we introduce yet another six-legged giant spidery robot, it’s kind of like, ‘Okay, we got it.’ So yeah, I think it’s looking toward where we take those types of experiences in the future to something else or something additional, seeing how we can escalate the experience for the player on the PvE side.”

ARC Raiders is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
