Chorus Worldwide and Toge Productions announced that their upcoming anticipated PS5 visual novel, Coffee Talk Tokyo, is delayed until May 21. It was initially slated to launch on March 5.

Coffee Talk Tokyo delayed to bring “the best possible experience”

The companies confirm that the “core” of the game is complete, but need a bit more time to polish and refine its gameplay. This includes improvements to the overall feel, comfort, and smoothness of its gameplay. It is also confirmed that this is the final release date, and players can expect to play the visual novel in May.

“We understand that this is disappointing news, and we want you to rest assured that we won’t delay our launch date further. We are in the final stretch, and the bulk of the game is ready.

“But we felt we needed the extra time, because we really want to deliver the best possible experience from day one. And that means giving extra attention to polish: how the game feels in your hands, the comfort and smoothness, and the last little bits of content – everything that will allow the story to shine as it deserves.”

Set in a world populated by fantastical creatures, Coffee Talk Tokyo is a visual novel where players take on the role of a barista in a late-night café in Tokyo. As they sling hot and cold drinks, customers will share personal stories about their lives. It features a lo-fi soundtrack by Andrew “AJ” Jeremy, who also composed the original Coffee Talk, as well as Coffee Talk Episode 2.

Coffee Talk Tokyo is available to preorder on the PS Store for $14.99. PS Plus subscribers can save 10%, bringing the price down to $13.49. There is also a Deluxe Edition priced at $17.99 that includes the base game, the Seattle Prologue Chapter, 10 additional in-game City Pop tracks, and the Digital Artbook.
