Steam really has become the go-to storefront for the thrifty gamers out there who are looking to have a good time, without spending any of their hard earned cash.
Regardless of what genres you enjoy, there are plenty of choices around that should give you at least some enjoyment, as you while away the hours of your days off in fantasy kingdoms and post-apocalyptic wastes.
Over on Twitter/X, the handily named Free Steam Games has broken down eight new games coming to the service, none of which will set you back even a single penny.
The first of the games on offer is Witch Ghost, a survival shooter with roguelite elements, where you’ll essentially be blasting through undead hordes with your magic. It doesn’t have a ton of reviews yet, but all the ones it does have are positive about the experience they had.
Conquering of the Royal Keep is a choice-driven visual novel where you take on the role of a squire as they brave trials in an attempt to unlock the secrets of the keep they’re in. The art style looks like a real highlight here, even if you aren’t getting high octane gameplay.

Bside is an interesting prospect as it allows you to create your own Biibit, a human avatar that essentially functions a little bit like a Tamagotchi (if you’re old enough to remember those). Your little buddy will grow and learn, starting life on your desktop (in the game) before growing out of it and become semi-sentient in its own right.
Plague Lords: Witch Hunt is actually the prologue of the much larger Plague Lords (releasing in 2026), though this portion of the game has its own release. It will essentially take you through the early throes of the game, familiarising you with the mechanics, before showing you what’s to come when the main game drops.
Dungeon Stalkers is a PvEvP dungeon crawler where you’ll need to join forces to defeat horrible monsters, as well as other adventurers vying for the same prizes.
It has a solid player count at the time of writing, so now is probably as good a time to play as any.
Rounding out the list this time is creepy puzzler Dark Watching Chapter 1, psychological interactive fiction release Wrong Way and indie horror Feast of Fools.
All of those are available to download right now, so jump in and give them a go when you can. There’s literally zero risk.
