Before its release, every video game unfortunately has to undergo cuts to its content and features. Big productions are no exception to this rule, and the remake of Resident Evil 4 launched in 2023 is no exception.
On YouTube, a user named Thekempy discovered a chapter that was deleted before launch. It served as a prologue in which the player took on the role of Ashley Graham. Entitled “Chapter 0,” this passage could only be partially restored using the game files.
The Resident Evil 4 adventure was supposed to begin with Ashley walking through a Spanish forest in the middle of the night. She would then come across members of the religious organization Los Iluminados performing a sacrificial ritual. The area covered by this chapter is not accessible in the final game. However, a few excerpts were included in the game’s story trailer (first 20 seconds).
After witnessing this scene, Ashley headed towards the famous village. She had to move quietly to avoid enemies, as she was unable to defend herself. She also reportedly saw Luis being carried away by an infected person. Finally, a chase sequence with the Ganados ended with Ashley being captured.
