Special infected: Blister Heads

Before we discuss all the bosses in Resident Evil Requiem, let’s take a quick look at some of the special infected that you’ll encounter over the course of your playthrough. Let’s start with the Blister Heads, which are actually mutated variants of previously slain enemies.
Basically, any zombie that you kill can reanimate later in the campaign. They’ll turn into Blister Heads, which have faster and more erratic movement. Their melee swipes deal more damage, too.
To prevent the undead from mutating, you need to blow up their heads or their entire bodies. This can be done through the following means:
- Grace’s Hemolytic Injector – You can inject a zombie with a concoction that causes them to explode. This can only be done if (a) you sneak up on them, (b) you stagger them, or (c) they’re prone/downed.
- Leon’s Hatchet – When Leon staggers an enemy, he can do a roundhouse kick to push them to a wall or an obstacle. The target will be in a kneeling position, allowing you to lop off their head with the hatchet.
- High-caliber weapons – There are plenty of weapons in the game. Some, like the Requiem and Sniper Rifle, can instantly blow up an enemy’s skull with a headshot.
Special infected: Singers

The Singers periodically screech, disorienting Grace and affecting her aim. They’re pretty much just like regular infected, but you need to pop them with more bullets to bring them down.
Special infected: Chainsaw Charlies

Chainsaw Men or Chainsaw Charlies are pretty much good ol’ zombies that wield the iconic horror movie weapon. They are extremely dangerous since they can kill Leon in a variety of ways:
- They can slice Leon from shoulder to torso or bisect him completely.
- A zombie with a chainsaw stuck in its belly will attempt to ram and skewer Leon.
- Zombies that are downed while holding a chainsaw can still uncontrollably move forward along the ground since the chainsaw is still revved up.
- A chainsaw that’s not held by anyone, if it’s still revved up, can continue to spin and damage you if you get too close.
Special infected: Lickers

Lickers are an old fan-favorite creature from previous games. They’ve retained their love of crawling on the floor and along walls. They have a leap attack, which you can counter if you have a Knife/Hatchet. They can also do a tongue lash attack, which Leon can parry with his Hatchet. Doing so actually completes the Cat Got Your Tongue challenge.
Note: The next sections of our Resident Evil boss guide takes a look at the “big bads” that you’ll face in the campaign. Be ready to dive straight into spoiler territory.
The Girl

Grace has to fend off a ghoulish creature known as The Girl several times in the campaign. These include locations like the Care Center Nurse’s Station, Care Center Basement, and Water Treatment Facility.
The Girl lurks in the shadows and she emerges from holes in the ceiling. The moment you spot her, you need to run for your life to reach any well-lit room. Her skin burns due to light, causing her to scurry away in fear.
Later in the Water Treatment Facility, you have a chance to eliminate the Girl once and for all:
- Restart the three power distribution units. Use the industrial work lights or the Requiem to stun her while she chases you around.
- Go up the elevator and turn on the work light to freeze her in her tracks.
- Press the button to open the shutter.
- It’s up to you if you want to shoot her or not. Either way, she’ll melt into a puddle.
Chunk

Chunk is another horrifying boss in Resident Evil Requiem. These mutated brothers who have insatiable appetites show up during Grace’s and Leon’s trek through the Care Center. Don’t let Chunk’s size fool you, because the overgrown fellas can squeeze through narrow corridors, bulldozing other infected in his path.
- As Grace, you can kill the first Chunk to complete the Grace and Goliath challenge, which rewards you with a unique charm. Try to clear out some of the infected while luring Chunk to a part of the facility that he can’t pass through, such as the Level 2 corridor to the Isolation Ward. Then, unload a couple of Requiem shots at his head to finish him off.
- As Leon, you face the second Chunk in the Attic. Despite the cramped space, you can run around and climb ladders to evade his grasp. There are also objects that you can interact with to bar his path. Use your newly found MSBG 500 Shotgun to great effect.
Blister Borne

Blister Bornes are bulky and souped up monstrosities that Leon encounters in the Care Center Chapel and the East Raccoon City Sewage Facility. They can charge straight up to him to deal tremendous damage.
To kill the Blister Borne, you have to destroy the tumors that have grown all over its body. Beware, though, because the tumors themselves emit toxins that cause slain infected to mutate immediately into Blister Heads. Ideally, you should only shoot the Blister Borne’s tumors once it’s lure farther away from downed zombies.
Titan Spinner

Leon battles a giant spider known as the Titan Spinner in the NF Building in East Raccoon City. You must stay mobile throughout this fight, since the Titan Spinner likes to chase you. You can shoot the fuel tanks, too, if the boss gets too close.
There are also a couple of things to watch out for:
- The Titan Spinner periodically disappears from view. It scurries along the walls and emerges from other parts of the building.
- The boss summons tiny spiderlings that you can clear out with your Hatchet swipes. However, these critters can jump on Leon’s face and temporarily immobilize him.
Mr. X / Super Tyrant

This Resident Evil Requiem Mr. X boss is an old fan favorite or, rather, it’s a new and improved variant. Leon faces this fella while inside Raccoon Police Department (RPD) and once he exits the building.
In RPD, you just need to escape its clutches as you go up the second floor of the building. Once it uses a helicopter tail, run back the way you came.
The actual boss battle happens in the open area outside RPD:
- Mr. X usually rushes toward Leon, so be ready to parry this maneuver with your Hatchet. You might need to sharpen the blade every now and then, too.
- When it moves near or on top of a car, prepare to get out of the way immediately, since it’ll toss a vehicle on your head.
- Keep blasting the exposed heart on its chest until it’s defeated.
Plant 43

At the end of the winding tunnels in Blackthorn Station, you’ll come across Plant 43. It has a main bulb/head, and two extra ones on the left and right-hand sides.
These heads periodically snap at Leon for a quick bite, dealing moderate damage. That means moving sideways depending on which head is about to strike. You should also wait for the petals to open up, so you can shoot the bulb in the middle.
Once the boss has been weakened, several fuel tanks underneath it will be revealed. Shoot these to incinerate your floral foe.
Note: The next boss fights that we tackle are from the ARK, the last area in the game. Be forewarned that major spoilers await.
The Commander

Is this fella Hunk or is he some other dude? Either way, he’s an expert in close-quarters combat (CQC).
- Initially, this fight is all about perfectly timing your parries to stagger your opponent. This allows you to follow up with your own slashes. Don’t even bother using your firearms here.
- A bit later, the Commander/Hunk will toss smoke grenades to mask his movement. He’ll strike soon enough, so just be ready to deflect the blows.
- When he grabs Leon by the neck, pass the quick-time event (QTE) sequence to survive. Otherwise, Leon’s neck will get snapped like a twig.
Victor: Phase 1

Depending on the ending that you choose, Leon can fight Victor Gideon as the ARK facility collapses around them. Victor has the following abilities during the first phase of the bout:
- He’ll lash out with his tentacle tendrils, though you can still parry these attacks.
- He’ll jump to the edge of the arena and begin channeling electricity. A glowing line will appear on the ground. Move out of the way since that area will get zapped by energy.
- Immediately after that move, Victor will jump and crash down on Leon’s last location. Stay on the move to avoid getting hit by this attack.
Victor/Nemesis: Phase 2

After a short cutscene, Victor transforms into the final form of Nemesis. Those who’ve played Resident Evil 3 should be familiar with the mechanics:
- Its primary attacks consist of ground pounds with its massive arms.
- There are several glowing pustules on the creature’s body. Shoot these to stagger your target.
- Several pustules will then appear on its base. Use a Stacked Grenade or an automatic weapon to quickly destroy these growths.
Lather, rinse, and repeat the above until you trigger a QTE sequence where Victor/Nemesis clutches Leon in its hands. Pass the QTE sequence to free yourself, then press the button prompt to chop its core with your Hatchet. Enjoy the cutscenes that follow.
