Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition is Also Coming to Xbox Series X/S, Gets Launch Trailer

As we get closer to the non-VR launch of Alien: Rogue Incursion – Part One: Evolved Edition on PC and PS5, developer Survios has released a launch trailer for the title and in the process has announced that it is also coming to Xbox Series X/S on September 30. The trailer, which you can check out below, gives us a look at how Alien: Rogue Incursion will be making the jump from VR to flat displays, and what kind of gameplay changes this transition might bring with it.

Alien: Rogue Incursion puts players in the shoes of former Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks, who sets off on a mission to expose some of Weyland-Yutani’s shady blacksite experiments. As you would expect from a title based on the classic Alien movie franchise, however, things go wrong, and a series of events ends with Hendricks ending up on a backwater planet named Pudan while investigating an SOS signal.

Since Xenomorphs are the primary threat in Alien: Rogue Incursion, the gameplay largely revolves around a mix of stealth and action. Depending on whether they have the resources to deal with a threat, players will often have to make split-second decisions about whether they want to engage their enemy in combat, or take the stealthy route out, hoping that they don’t get noticed and can ultimately save on valuable resources like ammo and health packs.

Over the course of the story in Alien: Rogue Incursion, players will eventually find themselves equipped with an impressive arsenal of weapons and tools that will help them take on just about any threat they might want.

With this progression scaling in mind, Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition wants to focus on a feeling of hopelessness in a player, especially in its earlier parts, forcing the them to scavenge for ammunition while they avoid the dangerous gaze of the Xenomorphs. To further help with this, the title also features spatial sound design, forcing players to use their ears alongside their eyes when it comes to assessing threats in a room.

Since Alien: Rogue Incursion was originally developed as a VR title, it is worth noting that it will likely leave behind many of the gameplay mechanics associated with the medium. For example, VR-based titles tend to place a heavy emphasis on the player using both of their hands in creative ways when they get into fights. With its transition out of VR, however, this game might end up feeling more like a bog-standard horror shooter.

As the Part One in the title might imply, Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition is the first planned part of a two-part story. Survios has noted that, despite this, the game tells its own standalone story with an ending that should satisfy most players. There are, however, also threads that are being left dangling to then be explored in the eventual Part Two release of Rogue Incursion.

Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition is available in the form of both Standard and Deluxe Editions in pre-orders. The Standard Edition is priced at $29.99, while the Deluxe Edition, which includes the Blue Camo armor and weapon skins and digital in-game art book, is priced at $39.99.
