Promising New PS5 Game Gets Free Demo, No PS Plus Required

The PS Store continues to offer interesting free demos for PS4 and PS5 players to enjoy. The best part is, Sony’s online subscription service PS Plus is not required to check out these vertical slices. That includes this recently released PS5 demo for a promising new first-person shooter slated to release next year.

PS5 demo for VoidBreaker available right now on the PS Store

Developed by Stubby Games and published by Playstack, VoidBreaker (stylized VOID/BREAKER) is a new roguelite first-person shooter where the player must escape the grasp of a hostile AI. The game allows players to craft “infinite” amounts of weapons by combining various mods to their arsenal to defeat the rogue robot enemies. It also features destructible environments that can potentially aid players in taking out enemies. Check out the trailer below to see it all in action, as well as a brief description of the game’s story.

“You are trapped in an endless sequence by the all-seeing, hostile AI. You are its prisoner – forced to fight, die, and repeat. The machines think you’ll never escape. The system is designed to keep you here. But escape is possible.”

The VoidBreaker demo seems to be popular with those who play it. It currently holds an average PS Store rating of 4.3 stars, based on 84 reviews. 75% of those ratings are five-star reviews. VoidBreaker is currently available on PC via Steam Early Access. As of this writing, Steam player reviews are “Very Positive,” with nearly 1,500 reviews submitted. With all that put into consideration, this free PS5 demo of the shooter seems worth checking out.
