2025’s best-sellers
The latest Circana monthly sales report for video games in the US has been released, providing an updated look at 2025’s best-selling games so far in the US. This data runs January 5, 2025 through August 30, 2025.
Monster Hunter Wilds remains the No. 1 overall best-selling game of the year, with Oblivion Remastered falling one spot, from No. 2 to No. 3. The No. 2 best-selling game of 2025 so far is now EA Sports College Football 26. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ranked No. 4 and NBA 2K26 is now No. 5 for 2025 so far.
The Switch 2 is putting up big numbers and its marquee launch title, Mario Kart World, is selling well. So why doesn’t it rank in the top 20? Circana’s Mat Piscatella said the $500 Switch 2 bundle that includes a copy of the game accounts for the bulk of hardware sales for the Switch 2. Given that, there is “no chance for it to get here with physical only sales to standalone hardware buyers.”
There are some key caveats to be aware of. This list includes physical and digital sales data, but not from every publisher. For example, Nintendo does not share digital sales data for any game released on its platforms. Also of note is that the list is ranked on dollar sales, not unit sales. The list also does not include revenue from sales of any add-ons for games, nor does it account for popularity on a service like Game Pass.
