Battlefield 6 Ultra and Ultra++ PC Requirements Revealed

While Battlefield Studios and EA had already confirmed what kind of minimum and recommended specs the upcoming Battlefield 6 will require from PC players, the companies have now also revealed what hardware is needed to run the game at its highest possible settings. In a post on social media platform X, details have been revealed about the Ultra and Ultra++ requirements for the game.

For Ultra, which is defined as running Battlefield 6 at 4K resolutions with 60 FPS and the Ultra settings preset or 1440p and 144 FPS with the Medium preset, the specs note that the title doesn’t require any form of image upscaling through DLSS or FSR. Rather, the title will run at native resolutions, as long as players have either an Intel Core i9-12900k or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU, and 16 GB of RAM.

Ultra++, on the other hand, is defined as running the title at 4K and 144 FPS at the High preset, or 4K and 240 FPS at the Ultra preset with the former using just DLSS Super Resolution and the latter also making use of Multiframe Generation. For this, players will need either an Intel Core 9 Ultra 285k or AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, and 16 GB of RAM. Both Ultra and Ultra++ settings also recommend 90 GB of free space of SSD storage, as well as Windows 11 as the operating system.

Interestingly, technical director Christian Buhl had spoken last month about how important it was for Battlefield Studios to ensure that Battlefield 6 runs well on even the lowest-spec PCs listed in the minimum requirements. To achieve this, he noted that the studio worked hard to make sure that even aspects like the design of the game’s various multiplayer maps were adjusted to make sure that they were performant.

“We built maps, and had to go to our artists and tech artists to adjust these maps so they were more performant,” said Buhl. “We’ve put in a lot of effort across the board to make sure these performance targets were set, and whether you’re on min spec or ultra spec you’re going to get the experience we’re targeting.”

Buhl also noted that, during the game’s open betas from back in August, a meaningful percentage of PC players were running Battlefield 6 on minimum specced PCs, which meant, among other things, that some players had as little as 6 GB of RAM. However, running the shooter well at even these specs, noted Buhl, was “super important” for Battlefield Studios and EA.

“Min spec is certainly one of our most important specs […] it’s super important from both a commercial and business perspective – we want as many people as possible playing the game,” he said.

“We did a lot of analysis, we did tests on the game on a wide range of hardware above and below our minimum and recommended specs. We figured out what we can hit, what we need to hit from a business perspective, and that was to capture a wide audience on PC. It’s been super critical.”

Battlefield 6 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 10.
