R.A. Salvatore’s new D&D novel draws from online wars over Colin Kaepernick

After more than three decades of writing about the drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden and his adventures throughout Dungeons & DragonsForgotten Realms campaign setting, R.A. Salvatore is talking about retiring. He’s focused on spending time with his family, and that’s reflected in his latest book. The Finest Edge of Twilight, published on Oct. 7, follows the daughter of Drizzt and Catti-brie as she tries to prove herself a hero in her own right.

It’s definitely intriguing how Salvatore connects contemporary issues with fantasy elements. This approach not only enriches the narrative but also invites readers to reflect on real-world themes through a different lens. It’s a clever way to make the story resonate more deeply with today’s audience.
