The Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Netflix series releases in mere days, and it’ll be the first time fans have gotten to see Sam Fisher in his own story–aside from a few books–in well over a decade. Now, the show’s creator and showrunner Derek Kolstad has provided some insight into how he approached the material, and how little hand-holding there was from series owner Ubisoft.
Speaking to GamesRadar, Kolstad–best known as the creator of the John Wick series–contrasted his experience on Deathwatch with his time working on Marvel IP.
“I did Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and that’s Disney,” Kolstad said. “You’re in a titanium tunnel–it’s [still] a joy because you get to play in a sandbox filled with sand and play with their toys.”
