A major security flaw discovered in the Unity engine has prompted many developers to take urgent action. Present in all versions of the engine since 2017, the vulnerability in question could allow an attacker to remotely execute code or steal data from the user’s machine.
Unity issued a warning on Friday, calling on studios to take immediate action. That being said, the company says there has been no impact on players at this stage. Microsoft and Valve have also taken action: Microsoft Defender now detects the flaw, while Steam will deploy additional protection via a client update.
Several games have already been patched, including Marvel Snap and Among Us. Others, such as Grounded 2, Avowed, and Pentiment, have been temporarily taken down from stores while the necessary fixes are applied.
