We start the day with some bad news. As of now, the director of Final Fantasy VII Revelation cannot confirm whether the game will indeed be released on physical disc.
Since Sony’s recent announcement that it will cease production of discs for PlayStation games starting in 2028, the gaming community has been asking a lot of questions about upcoming titles.
In an interview with GameRadar+, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, stated the following:
“We’re still having internal discussions on what the exact SKU product lineup is going to be for Revelation, so I can’t say anything particularly definitive at this point in time. I am working to make the arrangements to allow us to have some kind of physical edition.”
While he also confirmed that the trend seems to be moving away from physical media toward digital downloads, he did note that he loves seeing people bring physical items to ask for autographs or other things. He believes it’s a “wonderful culture” and that it would be “a shame” to lose it.
