The Pokémon Company is set to release Pokémon Pokopia’s first DLC titled ‘Bubbly Basin’ August 5, alongside the free Ver. 2.0.0 update for the game. This paid DLC is the first of three included in the game’s expansion pass.
The Bubbly Basin DLC adds new content as players can explore the underwater town called Bubbly Basin. The DLC adds new food, new Pokémon, new building mechanics like buoyant blocks, a power up for the move Surf, a new prepared food called Smoothies, bubble machines, new furniture, new outfits, and even a Sharpedo submarine room that gives that secret base atmosphere. It essentially gives you the tools to create underwater-theme layouts and creations.
The DLC also features new areas to explore as players can explore a mysterious hole that leads to the deep sea, and if you obtain a Starmie doll, you can visit a Dream Island which wasn’t possible before.
Free Ver. 2.0.0 update adds underwater freedom
The ability to create towns underwater isn’t exclusive to the DLC as it’s a free update to the base game. Thanks to the inclusion of the Pokémon Manaphy, Ditto is taught Dive, which simply makes them explore underwater and create under the sea. This isn’t available right away, players first need to complete ‘Raise the environment level!’ in Bleak Beach and already know Surf and jumping before they can dive underwater.
Fetching Scales for Feebas event on August 13
They also revealed that an in-game event called ‘Fetching Scales for Feebas’ will go live from August 13 to August 28. Feebas (the Fish Pokémon) comes to town for a limted time. You’ll have to collect prism scales, available only during the event period, to befriend Feebas and its evolution Milotic. Prism scales can be exchanged for swimming-themed furniture, and building habitats, which in turn allows you to befriend both Feebas and Milotic.
Second and Third DLCs teased
The second DLC planned for the game (set for a late 2026 release) was also teased as you can expect the DLC to add new accessories, more added furniture and other Pokémon to interact with. This seems to be a smaller DLC drop compared to Bubbly Basin as they confirmed that it won’t add a new town to the game.
The third DLC is another story. Planned for a 2027 release, you can expect it to add a new town, more Pokémon, furniture, and more.
All of these DLCs are included in the game’s expansion pass, which if you own, will also come with a Dynamic Ditto print DLC, which gives players Ditto print blocks and wallpaper for added customizations and is claimable via the in-game DLC menu. Owning the expansion pass before August 31, 2027 also gives you 30 rare Pokémetal ingots.
Pokémon Pokopia is available now and is exclusively on the Switch 2.
