The Big Bang Theory spent 12 seasons celebrating science fiction, superheroes, and fantasy worlds, with its central characters being active members of those fandoms. Sheldon Cooper argued endlessly about Star Trek, the gang constantly debated DC and Marvel storylines, and countless conversations were shaped around fantasy lore, but the Big Bang Theory’s sitcom format always kept those adventures far out of reach. Fans got plenty of references to the characters Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, and Howard loved, yet those passions rarely became a bigger part of the story.
