The third and final part of Square Enix’s remake of Final Fantasy VII has been announced as Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
The central theme of game is ‘resolve’, as Cloud and his friends move to the conclusion of the game, a giant meteor hanging above their heads. The Highwind airship will allow you to travel across the map, and you can jump off with a parachute to any location at any point. New characters include Vincent Valentine and Sid Highwind, and there’s a new costume armour system called FITS which gives you different boosts and abilities.
The game will launch simultaneously on all platforms, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2, in Spring 2027.
In our 10/10 review for Final Fantasy VII Remake, Tuffcub said, ” How do you remake one of the most beloved video games ever made? Why would you even risk it? It would be like remaking Jaws, Casablanca, or the original Star Wars film. Final Fantasy VII was a sprawling saga spanning eighty hours of memorable characters, lengthy battles, and tearful heartbreak. There is no way Square Enix could do it justice… and yet they have. An utter joy to play from start to finish, packed with memorable scenes, moustache-twirling baddies, and epic battles. The first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t just polished, it’s opulent.”
Our review for the next instalment, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, was equally well received, scoring 9/10 in 2024. “Really the biggest problem you’ll have once the credits roll is knowing that it will be far too many years before we can finish the trilogy,” noted Nic.
