How To Help The Duke In Mina The Hollower

When you’re approaching the end of the first dungeon, Queensbury Crypt, you’ll encounter a purple character called The Duke in Mina the Hollower. He’s asking you to take him to his “fairest love” as she’s somewhere in the halls. However, he can only venture so far before he’ll fall back and return to where you found him. He won’t come out of the Crypt’s main entrance with you, so how do you help The Duke?

Be aware that there are spoilers ahead for the Queensbury Crypt boss fight, so please don’t read too far ahead if you want to avoid those.

You might have to go back and grab The Duke if he returns to his starting position.

Grab him from his position and travel south, navigating the platforms and enemies. Head east across the lowest room, and bring him back north, taking him through the east pathway to the main hall of Queensbury Crypt. Here, clear all of the plants and grass that you can see. In the middle, on the left, clearing this will reveal a statue head similar to the ones you’ve been placing back on their bodies leading up to the Crypt. Pick this up.

Collect the statue’s head and proceed north.

Head north to the headless statue in the main hallway to trigger this area’s boss fight. It turns out that this is The Duke’s love – we don’t judge. He’s pretty happy with the result of the fight, without spoiling it, but there’s one more thing you need to do for him. If you don’t want the rewards spoiled, stop reading here.

Dude just wants a bit of alone time.

Take The Duke north through the room, collecting the Health Rose along the way. Here, you’ll have to seal The Duke into his own crypt so he can rest forever with his love. He’ll thank you once more and give you the Proto Spark, one of the best trinkets in Mina the Hollower that gives you one free save from death. You don’t have to complete this step if you don’t want to seal him away forever, but it’s strongly recommended that you do.
