An unannounced PS5 exclusive game has leaked ahead of June 2026’s PlayStation State of Play, and it’s already causing concern. Internet sleuths discovered that Sony trademarked something called Break In under categories used for video game software, and a popular theory is that it’s a rebrand of the troubled Fairgames.
Is unannounced PS5 exclusive game ‘Break In’ a rebrand of Fairgames?
We’re not sure where the aforementioned theory originated, but shortly after it started making the rounds on gaming forums, known journalist Jason Schreier teased that Break In is indeed a new title for Fairgames.
For the uninitiated, Fairgames is the Payday-esque multiplayer heist game in development at Sony’s Haven Studios. Reports of the game’s troubled development have been circulating for a while, with known insider Tom Henderson claiming that Fairgames’ internal playtests haven’t gone well at all.
In the midst of Fairgames’ development hell, Haven Studios’ lead Jade Raymond quietly exited the company, and rumors have it that she was forced out. Neither Sony nor Raymond has confirmed or denied these reports.
Whether Break In is Fairgames or not remains to be seen, but it does look like it’s a live service game even if it’s a different IP. As spotted by Gematsu, Sony has registered several social media profiles with the handles “playbreakin,” and traditionally, multiplayer games follow the same naming conventions on social media, i.e., the word “play” followed by the game title.
Players are understandably concerned, as evidenced by responses to the leak across gaming forums and social media. Sony’s live service gamble hasn’t paid off, with the only exception in recent years being Helldivers 2.
