Bethesda certainly isnât in a rush to push The Elder Scrolls VI out of the door, nor should it be.
Following the mixed response to Starfield, thereâs a lot riding on the gameâs success, so itâs of utmost importance that Bethesda takes its time to get things right.
That doesnât necessarily make the wait for The Elder Scrolls VI any easier but there are rival experiences out there that may land sooner.
One of those is the very ambitious sandbox game Chronicles: Medieval which is due to land in early access on PC this year ahead of a future PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S console launch.
Developed by Raw Power Games, Chronicles: Medieval is a sprawling rags to riches tale.
Players will step into a vibrant medieval Europe, rising up through the ranks to eventually command an army as they explore and partake in a wide array of skirmishes.
âBegin at the bottom, armed with nothing but grit and will. Earn your name in skirmishes, field battles, and sieges where every fight is a step towards more power,â the synopsis teases.
âBuild your castles, then hold them against those who would tear them down. Dominate the battlefield with ruthless melee actions, gear up, and adapt your tactics to crush anything the fight throws at you.
âShape your destiny in a living, breathing realm where every decision echoes through history and every sword swing could change your fate.â
Chronicles: Medievalâs Large-Scale Battles Feature Tons of NPCs
Youâll be able to create your own character before setting out into the huge open-world.
There, youâll want to train and improve your various combat skills before eventually recruiting other valiant fighters to join you.
âCommand historical units like the sharp-eyed English Longbowmen or the devastating French cavalry, issue orders, and fight alongside friends in custom battles. Adapt, react – execute,â devs explain.
The scale of the battles within Chronicles: Medieval is impressive, with visuals released from the game showing hundreds of NPCs on the battlefield.

Chronicles: Medieval isnât purely all about combat though. Youâll be able to leisurely explore the gameâs various settlements, forming bonds and engaging in diplomatic conversations.
Raw Power Games tease that players can write their own story with no two playthroughs being the same.
Chronicles: Medieval doesnât just look perfect for fans of The Elder Scrolls, it should also appease players of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II as well.
In fact, itâs arguably one of the closest offerings weâve had to a full-scale Game of Thrones RPG.
Existing teases of the game look incredibly promising but, of course, we wonât know for sure if the game pulls off what it sets out to achieve until it’s in our hands.
Chronicles: Medieval will launch in early access on Steam within 2026.
An exact date is yet to be determined but hopefuls for this one donât need to be worried as devs have been dropping regular updates on Steam and development is progressing nicely.
In fact, the latest update landed just a few days ago. Itâs certainly a game to keep an eye on.
