Things are moving very quickly at Microsoft’s video game division. The division’s restructuring continues following the price cut for Game Pass and the renewed focus on the company’s upcoming console. Changes are also coming to the company’s mobile strategy.

Now, The Verge reports that during an internal meeting, Asha Sharma reportedly announced the discontinuation of the Microsoft Gaming moniker adopted in 2022 under Phil Spencer’s leadership during the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. From now on, the company’s gaming division will simply be called Xbox. This marks a true return to its roots.

Sharma reportedly even made a strong statement, declaring that “Xbox must be our identity.”
