Between the ages of 7–11, whenever I left the house, I’d have a soccer ball glued to my feet (although I’d have called it a football because I’m British, sorry folks). I say “glued,” but chances are that any adult with me would be constantly on high alert to stop me from booting it into oncoming vehicles or at pedestrians because, as much as I wanted to believe it, the second coming of David Beckham I was not.
