  • Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus, Civil War)
  • Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Black Bag)
  • Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms)
  • Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina)
  • Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes)
  • Ruby Cruz (Willow, Bottoms)
  • Nick Offerman (The Last of Us)
  • John Hodgkinson
  • Jefferson Hall
  • Emma Laird
  • Peter Serafinowicz

Production will begin in Spring 2026, so like, now, and Alex Garland has both written and will direct the film. Garland is a well-respected movie producer and reportedly pitched the idea himself to Bandai Namco. He’s also a big gamer with many highly regarded movies under his belt, including Civil War (2024), Sunshine (2007), Ex Machina (2014) and Annihilation (2018).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film adaptation is set to have a budget well over $100 million, with around 100 days of principal photography planned, making it the most expensive film A24 has worked on.

News of the movie adaptation was announced over a year ago but things have been very quiet, but apparently moving at quite a pace.

Elden Ring was created under the guidance of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin, author of the fantasy novel series, “A Song of Ice and Fire.” That’s Game of Thrones if you’ve been living under a rock. The game has sold an astonishing 30 million copies worldwide as of April 2025, and spawned a new entry in the series with Elden Ring: Nightreign, which launched on 30th of May 2025.

Elden Ring’s dark and menacing world of brutal challenges is undoubtedly an evocative setting, and, if done well, could be a fantasy epic to rival Lord of the Rings, or Martin’s own Game of Thrones.

In 2024 Elden Ring director and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki said, “We’re not really considering developments such as an Elden Ring 2,” but then acknowledged that they may work on the sequel in the future. He also suggested the franchise could continue in another form, such as a movie or animated series. Maybe he knew something back then!
