If youâre after an engaging sci-fi gaming experience with a near-perfect score from players, you are definitely in the right place.
Developed and published by indie team Cetacity, The Moon Looks Beautiful Tonight: Definitive Edition is a free visual novel that recently arrived on PC storefront Steam.
It landed to quite the rapturous response considering that I wouldnât particularly say it was a title on many peopleâs radar.
The Moon Looks Beautiful Tonight: Definitive Edition centres around two girls who must travel to the moon after itâs been thrown out of orbit.
âEleven months ago, the Moon was sent violently flying off course by a catastrophic explosion, depriving Earth of its steady stream of resources,â the synopsis begins.
âLess importantly, the two maintenance workers on there when the explosion occurred have been stranded ever since.
âIt’s not so bad, honestly. The Heart provides for everything, a practically infinite source that gives them water, food, and powers their satellite as they wait with ever-dwindling hopes for rescue.
âAt this point, Rose’s biggest stressor is her blossoming relationship with her only companion.â
This is, as you might be able to guess, a moving sapphic story about self-discovery.
You Can Complete The Moon Looks Beautiful Tonight In A Couple of Hours
As for why this is the âdefinitive editionâ, The Moon Looks Beautiful Tonight has landed before but this latest iteration includes new graphics, an original soundtrack, plus an updated story.
In fact, it features over 25,000 words of story.

As a visual novel, itâs not a game that demands much of you in terms of gameplay, perfect for when youâre looking for something that may help you unwind.
At the time of writing, The Moon Looks Beautiful Tonight: Definitive Edition boasts a very high review score of 96% from players on Steam.
âThis game is so unbelievably cute and real, I don’t know how else to describe it.
No real gameplay, just a story to follow along but an incredible one at that. Music HITS so hard, the characters are super interesting and layered. On top of that, the whole yuri on the moon vibes are immaculate,â remarked one very happy player.
âThis was super nice. Like, it’s great how to the point it was, the writing was easy to follow and it kept moving towards a goal, and not really meandering. All the scenes had meaning and hit me in the feels. It had a scope and kept to it. It also didn’t try to beat me over the head with anything it was trying to convey, and I appreciate that,â added another.

On average, the game should take you two to three hours to complete, so it shouldnât harm your backlog if thatâs already quaking with so many games to play.
