Asha Sharma has already acknowledged the demand for a return to Xbox exclusives and now it’s claimed to be something the company is seriously considering.
There was plenty of scepticism going around when Asha Sharma took over from Phil Spencer as head of Xbox, back in February, given she has zero experience working in the video games industry and only joined Microsoft in 2024, as president of the company’s CoreAI project.
This sparked debates about whether a video game exec needs to be a gamer to do a good job, but Sharma made an effort to share her gamer credentials and has already hit the ground running by properly announcing the next Xbox console, currently dubbed Project Helix.
Most surprisingly, she openly acknowledged fans’ demands for Xbox to return to making console exclusives and although she’s never confirmed anything, it’s claimed that is something that Xbox is seriously discussing.
This comes courtesy of Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who has shared behind the scenes details about Xbox in the past.
During a recent appearance on the Xbox Two podcast, Corden claimed, ‘there are very very very big discussions about the exclusivity stuff going on’ internally at Xbox.

‘I think they do recognise the value,’ said Corden, ‘It’s just about what type of company do you want to be at the end of the day? … Do you want to be an ecosystem company first or do you want to be a publishing company first?’
