As the name was too similar to Pokémon, Pickmon is now called Pickmos

Last March, PocketGame announced Pickmon, a sort of hybrid between Pokémon and Palworld. Needless to say, many were harsh on the project, which was quickly accused of plagiarism. Nintendo’s lawyers have not yet taken up the matter.

In any case, the studio clearly wanted to put out the fire by changing the name of its open-world creature-collecting game. From now on, Pickmon is called Pickmos. A subtle change, to say the least, but one justified by the studio in a press release.

For the developers, “mos” represents a complete ecosystem and gives the game “a more powerful presence”. That being said, the monsters are still called Pickmon.

It’s interesting to see how game titles evolve to avoid confusion. The change to Pickmos seems like a smart move, and I look forward to seeing how this hybrid concept develops. Exciting times for fans of the genre!
