Today, March 31, 2026, marks the end of the Nintendo Switch 2’s free GameChat Welcome Offer. Launched alongside the console, this offer allowed users to freely use GameChat, a built-in communication system that includes voice chat, video chat, and screen sharing.
A Nintendo Switch Online subscription is now required to continue accessing it. Nintendo notes, however, that the standard subscription will suffice, with no need to upgrade to a more expensive plan. It’s worth noting that GameChat is touted as one of the Switch 2’s major social features, facilitating interactions between players directly from the console.
