Developer Douze Dixièmes has released patch 2 for its metroidvania MIO: Memories In Orbit, with this patch addressing more issues that needed fixing. That includes areas where you could be hard locked from progressing further for not having the right unlocks, and soft locks where some characters may just disappear. Unsafe zones have also been added so it is clearer where players may get caught in a death loop.
MIO: Memories In Orbit Patch 2 update notes
Hard locks
- Death on Anra after opening the door, if the player quits the game after Halyn’s cutscene without taking the checkpoint.
- Accessing the Vault area without the Flowing Striders and then taking the checkpoint.
Soft locks / can be resolved by returning to the menu
- Reaching the big fly arena without the hook.
- Reaching certain platforms in the flashbacks.
- Complete disappearance of Ancile & Targa, leaving the player stuck in the room.
Other fixes included
- Fixed Spanish localization.
- SFX fixes.
- Credits update.
- Invisible killzone in Promenade.
- Added the holographic planet in the true ending.
- Various fixes: flowing steps, Plums disappearing during Saw Long chase, elevators, pearls in The Pit, incorrect name for Mel at the end, Flora’s corpse, Goliath disappearing, etc.
QoL improvements and balancing
- Elevator automatically unlocked after the first encounter with Halyn.
- Added “unsafe” zones to prevent death loops (avoid blocking respawns).
- Balance changes: adjustment to the perfect Sharpened Hairpin, adjustments to negative modifiers.
- Keyboard fixes for Flowing Striders.
- Promenade’s overseer moved.
In our MIO: Memories In Orbit review, I said, “MIO: Memories In Orbit is an early contender for one of the most memorable games of 2026. It is an incredibly challenging game to play, with combat being a highlight, even if some platforming section can be frustrating. It looks fantastic, though, and the story is well told. MIO: Memories In Orbit draws you in, and does not let go easily. It is hard game but the journey is worth experiencing.”
