Back in 1996, id Software release what would become a landmark in the FPS genre called Quake. With its dark fantasy universe, fearsome creatures, and military science fiction atmosphere, the saga quickly became a cult classic.
However, it has been almost nine years since the license disappeared from the radar. Quake Champions is currently the latest installment, released in 2017. However, Bethesda has recently released remasters of the first entries.
Fortunately, things could take a turn for the better in the near future, as ZeniMax Media re-registered the Quake trademark on March 3, 2026. While this may simply be a routine update, a new game could also be in the works.

This is exciting news for fans of the FPS genre! Quake has such a rich history and has influenced many games since its release. Itβll be interesting to see what ZeniMax Media has planned for the franchise.
