Beyond These Stars is now skipping early access

Back in November it was reported that Beyond These Stars early access was delayed to 2026, but today there has been a further update regarding an early access release. Short version, it isn’t happening. Instead, Balancing Monkey Games is going to skip early access and head straight for the 1.0 release of Beyond These Stars later this year, though a date is yet to be confirmed.

In a blog post the development team wrote, “While preparing for what was planned to be an Early Access release, we found that many of our systems were complete enough to meet our requirements for a 1.0 release. After LOTS of discussions in-house, we’ve decided that with a final, strong push on content and gameplay, we’ll be able to have a completed version of the game in 2026. We know you all have been waiting patiently to enter the world of Beyond These Stars, and we’re so excited that you’ll be able to experience it in a fully realized form, rather than just a chapter of it, with a 1.0 release.”

Balancing Monkey Games also confirmed what additional content players will see in version 1.0, which would not have been in an early access build of Beyond These Stars. The content includes the full galaxy to explore, new complex buildings, interaction mechanics for the peeps, more space to build your civilisation, planets that can be settled, alien species to meet, quests to undertake, and the full story mode of the game. In Beyond These Stars,  the Peeps find themselves living on the back of the space whale Kewa, which gives them an opportunity to build a home. However, there will be challenges for players to face when building a society on top of a sentient creature including your relationship with it. Expand too quickly and overwork the land on Kewa, and there will be fewer resources with the land shrinking.
