Arrowhead will phase out the 153 GB version of Helldivers 2 on March 17

After being available in beta for several weeks, Arrowhead Game Studios is about to impose the light version of Helldivers 2. Since its release, the game has gradually grown to 153 GB. The studio had included duplicate data to facilitate loading on mechanical hard drives.

Since this advantage is actually very limited and only 11% of active players do not use SSDs, Arrowhead has decided to remove this duplicate data to reduce the size of Helldivers 2 to just 23 GB.

In a message posted on Steam, the developer announced that the much larger version will be removed with the March 17, 2026 update. The studio believes it has conducted enough testing and received enough feedback to make this transition smoothly. In addition, a significant influx of new players was noted following the rollout of the Machinery of Oppression update.
