Another disaster is looming on the horizon for the gaming and tech sector. The Origami website reported this week that Unity Technologies is expected to cease operations in France soon.
The French branch responsible for the famous game engine currently employs 91 people in several cities across the country. Founded in 2015 and headed by engineer Sébastien Lagarde, this subsidiary has created several well-known tools such as Graphics, HDRP, and VFX Graph.
For the time being, the company’s management has not wished to justify this closure or even discuss its strategy for Unity in France in the coming years. In addition, negotiations between the company and employee representatives are currently at a standstill.

It’s always tough to hear about layoffs and office closures, especially in the gaming and tech industries. Hopefully, those affected will find new opportunities soon. It’s important to support each other during challenging times like these.
