Resident Evil Requiem review: the ninth entry in the franchise gets excellent marks

The verdict is finally in for Resident Evil Requiem, which will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC on February 27, 2026, . The specialized press has published its reviews of Capcom’s latest survival horror, and they are glowing.

At the time of writing, Resident Evil Requiem has an average Metacritic score of 88% on PS5 (85 reviews), 91% on Xbox Series X (8 reviews), 90% on Switch 2 (9 reviews), and 91% on PC (7 reviews). The OpenCritic score is currently 90% with 50 reviews.

Resident Evil Requiem features some impressive visuals, fast-paced campaign (around 12 hours), plenty content, and the Grace/Leon duo does wonders in terms of adding variety to the gameplay. Fans of the series will also surely appreciate the fan service aspect.

As for flaws, we can mention the fan service may feel too heavy-handed sometimes, the lackluster puzzles and the story that ends up going off the rails.
