Developer Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that Marvel’s Wolverine is set to release on September 15 for the PlayStation 5.
The reveal was pretty simple. It was quick, with nothing shown beyond the game’s release date. An unusual choice considering they did have a State of Play presentation a few weeks back, which gives me the impression they wanted to reveal this information earlier but it wasn’t completely finalized by everyone involved.
At the very least, this confirms that the game will slowly be marketed as we get closer to September, months ahead of the juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto VI, which is slated for a November 15 release this year.
Marvel’s Wolverine is Insomniac’s next take in a comic book-based adventure game that is more brutal and dark as compared to what they did in the Spider-man games. The first gameplay trailer of the game made a statement that the game isn’t shy of showing dismemberment, blood, and more. While the story centers on Wolverine, it will feature other mutants such as Omega Red, Mystique, and more as he uncovers a “dark past.”
