In May 2024, former developers from Firaxis Games (XCOM, Marvel’s Midnight Suns) founded Midsummer Studios. Their goal was to revitalize the life simulation genre with a brand new game. The studio even managed to raise $6 million.
Unfortunately, the adventure is already coming to an end, as Midsummer Studios is closing its doors. Co-founder Jake Solomon announced the news on X. At the same time, he shared a preview of Burbank, the title the teams were working on. Solomon describes it as a mix between a life simulation and The Truman Show.
The excerpt is taken from a pre-alpha version. Of course, Burbank will probably never see the light of day.
