At this year’s DICE Summit in Las Vegas, members of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences came together to honor Vince Zampella, the Call of Duty veteran and Battlefield 6 boss who tragically perished in a car accident in December 2025. Shortly after that event, GameSpot spoke with a Battlefield 6 producer Alexia Christofi about carrying on Zampella’s legacy and what the future of the game holds.
“[Zampella] was always a risk-taker and he kind of put that into us,” said Christofi. “Nothing about his legacy is gonna be lost from us, because now it’s about making him proud. He’s always kind of given us autonomy to do what we think is best in the game and we were super lucky to have his leadership when we did. And it won’t be lost, and we’ll carry it forward for sure.”
Regarding a new Battlefield boss to take over Zampella’s position, Christofi noted that Battlefield GM Byron Beede is “so driven, and I guess him having Vince as his manager, Vince instilled that into him as well. So we have that leadership from him,” before adding “People above my pay grade are still trying to figure out what what happens moving forward.”
