We’re all familiar with the concept of a backlog. Well, my wishlist is similarly overloaded.
There are some incredible video games in the pipeline.
This year alone, Grand Theft Auto VI, Marvel’s Wolverine, Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, 007 First Light, and Pokémon Pokopia are set to be ours – and I’m barely scratching the surface there.
We’re seeing more and more titles steadily announced, with a State of Play having just been confirmed.
Elsewhere though, you may have missed an exciting new game announcement that recently landed on IGN.
Red Dead Meets Diablo in The Dark West
Developer Black Hand has dropped a reveal trailer for upcoming action RPG The Dark West which offers Diablo-inspired gameplay in a Red Dead Redemption-esque world.
“The Dark West is an action RPG that challenges both your skill and sanity,” the synopsis begins.
“Face a cursed western frontier, where faith and damnation war beneath an eternal dusk. Your choices will carve a path through a world where greed unearthed something fouler than death.”
The game is set within an occult version of the Wild West where the sun “refuses to rise”.

“The land bears the wretched marks of what people wanted and what they were willing to do for it. Choose characters shaped by difficult pasts,” devs tease.
“Faith still has a say. Damnation does too. Violence settles most questions, and the rest are answered by choices that haunt your soul.”
This is all a tad cryptic, so allow me to offer something that does more than just set the mood.

The Dark West utilises hack n’ slash mechanics in its top-down “fast-paced, strategic, and unforgiving” combat system.
Players will traverse through dying towns and worked-out mines as they attempt to survive a world corrupted by greed and black magic.
It seems to be teased that you’ll be able to shape your character, so I’m imagining players will be able to create a build that suits them to some extent.
Combat will also factor in various buffs.
Alcohol is provided as one example; it can give the player strength, but dulls other senses.
References are also made to a “poker-card power”. Devs explain, “Assemble hands that twist abilities and bonuses. Don’t let the odds turn against you!”
We also know that The Dark West will include skill trees and legendary weapons but for the most part, devs are keeping much about the title’s formula under lock and key for now.
I have to say though, it already has my attention.
The Dark West is currently targeting a PC launch although no exact release window has been provided.
You can, however, already wishlist the title on Steam. It’s most certainly one to keep an eye on.
